The magnetic moments of (vg 9/2)-levels in odd Zn isotopes

^69m,71mZn have been implanted with an isotope separator on-line into a cold iron host matrix. Nuclear magnetic resonance of the low-temperature oriented isotopes has been observed. The resonance frequencies for zero external magnetic field are v_L(^69mZnFe@#@) =36.814(35) MHz andv _L (^71mZnFe)=33.47(19) MHz. From these the magnetic moments of the 9/2⁺ iosmeric states have been derived as μ(^69mZn)=(?)1.138(18) n.m. andμ(^71mZn)=(?)1.035(18) n.m. The experimentally known magnetic moments of (vg _9/2)-levels in odd zinc isotopes are compared to theoretical estimates.     

New nuclides: Neptunium-243 and neptunium-244

We have observedγ-rays following the β^?-decay of²⁴³Np and²⁴⁴Np after chemical isolation of neptunium isotopes from the products of the reaction of 835 MeV¹³⁶Xe with²⁴⁴Pu. The ground-state of 1.85-min²⁴³Np hasJ=5/2. The decay of 2.29-min²⁴⁴Np (probableJ ^π=7^?) populates high-spin members of the ground state rotational band in²⁴⁴Pu.     

A relativistic method for the nonrelativistic gap problem

We examine several criteria concerning the problem of gaps in the spectrum of Hamiltonians for one-dimensional alloys. In particular, a criterion which uses a theorem from the special theory of relativity is compared with criteria already known.     

Efficient indirect electrochemical in-situ regeneration of nadh:electrochemically driven enzymatic reduction of pyruvate catalyzed by d-ldh

Using [Cp(Me)₅Rh(bipy)C1]C1 (1) as redox catalyst for the continous NADH regeneration it was possible to perform an electrochemically driven enzymatic reduction of pyruvate to D-lactate catalyzed by D-LDH at a rate of 5 turnovers per hour. This is by a factor of 20 faster than the best results obtained until now. Current yields of 50 to 70 % may be obtained.
